The first 2 years I lived in my house I used one paticular area to grow potatoes. This season I decided I wanted to grow squash in the same spot. All of my squash seeds are not growing because the spot is being taken over by potatoes I did not plant. I was not aware that once you plant them in a paticular spot they are difficult to irradicate.
