Another mystery herb.......

Here is a picture of another herb I aquired last year from a friend and I have no idea what it is. Anybody know? It sure is pretty though!

Cherries

Cherries are defineatley in season. We have been picking them off the tree in our backyard and I got 15 pounds of Organic Bing and Van cherries from another vendor at the Farmers Market. I have made pies and crisps. I canned a bunch for pies and I also made a batch of Maraschino cherries, yum!

Who's the father ?!?!

I made my little black Swedish duck go broody so I could put fertile eggs under her to hatch out. She layed 12 eggs on her nest before she decided to set. I went out to switch her unfertile eggs with fertile muscovy eggs. For the heck of it I decided to crack open one of her eggs before I tossed them in the garbage can. To my suprise there was an embryo that had started forming, I cracked open another, it was fertile also. The reason I'm in shock is because she has no mate and I do not have a male duck I thought was capable of mating with her. Shes a average size Black Swedish, the only drakes I have are a TINY white call and a HUGE muscovy. Logistically both seem impossible. Out of complete curiousity I put HER eggs back under her to see what the babies will look like,to find out who the dad is. Who would be the most likely culprit? I'm dying to know the paternity of these impending ducklings......

The first picture is of the mom duck the 2nd and 3rd pictures are of the possible fathers and the last one is of one of the baby duckling. They hatched out ALL black, feet and body, with one small yellow spot on their chest. I was sure once they were born I would be able to tell but I'm still a bit confused because they still look EXACTLY like the mom.....

Angry Chicken

With most deodorants and antiperspirants on the market containing lots of dangerous chemicals I have been searching for a natural alternative that actually works. I tried quite a few that DID NOT work until someone I know recommended one. For the past few months I have been using a product called Funk Butter, I love the name, made by a company called Oiyn. Its actually works! http://oyinhandmade.com/oyin/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=7
I got a recipe for homemade deodorant off of someones blog named Angry Chicken, cute name.

It was super easy to make and only took about 5 minutes. I split the batch in half and scented one with sweet orange, bergamot and ylang ylang and the other with lavendar and vanilla. They smell heavenly. I can't wait to try them out!
