I made my little black Swedish duck go broody so I could put fertile eggs under her to hatch out. She layed 12 eggs on her nest before she decided to set. I went out to switch her unfertile eggs with fertile muscovy eggs. For the heck of it I decided to crack open one of her eggs before I tossed them in the garbage can. To my suprise there was an embryo that had started forming, I cracked open another, it was fertile also. The reason I'm in shock is because she has no mate and I do not have a male duck I thought was capable of mating with her. Shes a average size Black Swedish, the only drakes I have are a TINY white call and a HUGE muscovy. Logistically both seem impossible. Out of complete curiousity I put HER eggs back under her to see what the babies will look like,to find out who the dad is. Who would be the most likely culprit? I'm dying to know the paternity of these impending ducklings......
The first picture is of the mom duck the 2nd and 3rd pictures are of the possible fathers and the last one is of one of the baby duckling. They hatched out ALL black, feet and body, with one small yellow spot on their chest. I was sure once they were born I would be able to tell but I'm still a bit confused because they still look EXACTLY like the mom.....

I'm guessing it is the Muscovy. I think the logistics of the small call being able to is a little tough :)
